Hair do's

Rylee has always been a hot natured child but this cast makes her even more so! This week we have been trying out some new hair styles.






Then Makenzie has started really rolling over from her belly to fer back. While I don't have any pictures of it...I do have some really cute ones of her and Rylee.











Lastly, my best friend got married this weekend and here are a few pictures from that.

Rolling over and Prayers

Here in the last little bit Rylee has really adapted to the cast. Today she figured out that she can roll over. Here she is





Then every night before bed we say our prayers. Rylee has memorized them. Here is her version of them.

Graduation

Dave graduated from college this weekend with his paralegal degree! We couldn't be prouder of him. Here are a few pictures.

Rylee is definately adapting to her cast. Recently she has wanted to spend more time on her belly since she can reach things better and found out she could do this!

Happy Mother's Day

Today was a great Mother's Day. Rylee was in a great mood and Makenzie was a sweet girl as always. We actually got to go to church this morning for baby dedication with Makenzie. Jessie and Daniel came and stayed with Rylee and she did great for them! Hopefully things are going to start being better with Rylee and they will stay that way. I have to go back to work tomorrow, so everyone say extra prayers that Rylee and Makenzie are good for my mom. She has someone to help her every day this week though just in case. I'll leave you with the latest pictures from today of the girls.

Adjusting

Today was a much harder day for Rylee. I think today it really set in for her that she couldn't get up and move around the way that she used to. First thing this morning she asked me to "take it off in a minute" referring to her cast. Then later she wanted to get up and put her baby in Makenzie's swing and push her lawn mower. It really breaks my heart that she can't do those things and really look forward to the day that she can. I must admit I really feel for mom's with children with physical limitations. I'm not sure I could do this always and am really glad it isn't permanent! Today wasn't much better pain wise either. Rylee seemed to be in a good deal of pain and dealing with some constipation issues too which made her incredibly grumpy. I'm hoping for a much better day tomorrow.

On a more positive note... we have had a lot of visitors since her accident. I am really thankful for our friends and family and the support that everyone has given us. We are really blessed! Thank you everyone for all you have done!

And since I feel like Makenzie is kinda getting lost in the shuffle with everything going on with Rylee...here are a couple new pictures of her and a few of Rylee adjusting to her new temporary lifestyle.

Sunday night we went up to our neighbor Tracy's pool. Rylee was pretty hesistant at first but after a little while really loved playing there!







But then she got out of the water to get a ball and next thing we knew she was laying on the ground after falling. There was nothing that she fell over so we're not exactly sure how it happened. She didn't get up and was really crying with it. We went home to try to distract her from it but she didn't stop complaining about it and wouldn't put any weight on it so we decided to go get it checked out. We went to Forsyth, where Dave and I work to get x-rays thinking it was nothing...little did we know we were in for a huge surprise! They found a femur fracture of her right leg and since Forsyth doesn't do peds, we were transferred to Baptist so that an orthopaedic surgeon could look at it. Rylee spent the first night in traction to help with the muscle spasms and then was put under general anesthesia and intubated to place her cast on. She is still in a great deal of pain at times and still having some muscle spams but at least we have made it home. We are waiting for her wheelchair to get here so that we can get back to a new routine with her. Please pray for us in the next 4 weeks since she won't be able to walk and will need to be woken up each night to be turned to prevent pressure ulcers. Please also pray for Makenzie as she may not get to see much of her parents for the next little bit. Everyone is pitching in helping with her. We really are blessed to have such great family and friends. My fear is just that after it is all over she won't even remember who we are anymore! But like they say, It takes a village to raise a child. Good thing I have such amazing people in my village!
